A few days ago Twitter announced its entry into the world of newsletters with the purchase of the startup Revue . A step that Facebook does not want to be left behind, starting to develop its own platform, as anonymous sources revealed to The New York Times in February . Now it is Facebook itself that has given more details about its operation.
In an article published by Facebook executives Campbell Brown, Global VP of News Partnerships, and Anthea Email Data Watson Strong, Product Manager, the social network explains that “As writers, experts and journalists increasingly publish their work independent, we are working to support those efforts and make it easier for those content creators to build their online businesses. Much of this initiative aims to support independent local journalists who are often the only voice covering a given community.
In the United States, in the coming months, we will introduce a new training platform for freelance writers, helping them reach new audiences and grow their businesses. “We will start by partnering with a small group of independent writers.”
The platform will include a variety of supporting tools focused on content creation and audience growth, including:
A free publishing tool with professional design options for creating independent websites and newsletters.
An integration with Facebook Pages to allow publishing in various media formats, such as photos, live videos, and stories.
The ability to create Facebook Groups and nurture a community of readers.
Features to help audiences easily discover new content and writers and, in turn, help those creators build direct relationships with their audiences.
Insights for writers to understand how their content is performing.
Acceleration services to help creators come together and incorporate best practices.
This tool is designed to support journalism in general, and also aims to boost the public's media literacy. Along these lines, the Facebook Journalism Project aims to serve as a platform that promotes good practice among journalists and editors .
Features that The New York Time had announced in February also included Instant Articles packages that users can subscribe to, trial periods for paid subscriptions , hackathons for collaborative development between editors, additional tutorials for journalists, and public service announcements (PSAs) to educate readers and thus stop the spread of hoaxes and fake news. _________________ Email Data |
